About

It was in 1982 that my wife and I decided to make Christmas gifts that were both heartfelt and handcrafted.  We decide to make nativity sets for family and friends.  This was the start of a time consuming, yet rewarding project.  These nativities were made from native Eastern pine.  Each figure was transferred onto a board, cut with our scroll saw, sanded, stained, glued together, and then urethaned and hand rubbed.  Each figure had at least three, and up to six, intricate cuts.  Color staining of each individual piece to create definition of the figure's clothing and character helped bring a natural and realistic look to them.  We soon realized that our labors were rewarded by the reactions of our family and friends who received them.  After the holidays were over, we put our project on the back burner in order to raise a family and keep our family contracting business going.

Now, as the years have passed and we near retirement, we have realized that this would be a good time to take our beautiful nativity set out of storage, start creating them again, and offer them for sale to those who appreciate a handcrafted, unique, and timeless piece.  Our mangers are also hand cut, stained, glued, and nailed together.  The manger completes the wonderful look and setting of the nativity set.  The set is a labor of love, for there are 70 pieces, including the manger, that are hand cut, sanded, stained, glued together, urethaned, and hand rubbed.  The hand cut star for the top of the manger provides the crowning and finishing touch.  It has been designed so that it can be removed, in the event that you have young children.  As they grow, the star can easily be returned to its designated spot.

The amount of time and labor that goes into creating this set is not reflected in the price that we are asking, so this is the reason we refer to it as a labor of love.  We would enjoy making one of these beautiful and forever nativity sets for you.

In 2016, a customer from Pennsylvania asked if we could possibly create something that would depict the empty tomb of Jesus's resurrection that could be displayed at Easter.  Following his request, we created our Easter Resurrection Scene, and it has been very well received.  It is constructed with all the same handcrafted detail that you would find in our Nativity Sets.

If you visit the gallery on our Images page, you can view the number of steps it takes to create each nativity set.  Because each set is handcrafted and wood grains vary, there may be slight variations from set to set.  All of the colored stains are hand mixed in small batches and so may also vary slightly from batch to batch.  Each one is unique and made to be treasured by its new owner.

We also recommend that you avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to help prevent possible fading.
